Harry Wilson to Leeds United: Wales international makes Elland Road switch after leaving Fulham | Football News

Leeds have completed a deal to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer following his departure from Fulham.

Sky Sports News reported last month that Wilson had spurned interest from Aston Villa and Everton and agreed to join Leeds.

Fulham tried to convince Wilson to stay and offered him a new contract after a career-best season in the Premier League where he scored 10 goals and set up seven more, which attracted interest from clubs in the Champions League.

His signing represents a real coup for Leeds and it comes nearly a year on from Wilson’s Deadline Day move to Elland Road collapsing at the last minute.

Wilson told Sky Sports News: “I’m really relieved.

“It was close last year and we got it over the line this year, so I’m delighted to be here.

“I think they had a really strong season last year, so I’m looking forward to getting here, playing in front of the fans here and having another good year.

“As everyone knows the atmosphere here is incredible.

“I’ve played here numerous times as an away player and every single time it has ben a tough game, an intimidating atmosphere and I’m looking forward to being on the other side of that.”

Wilson, who has 69 Wales caps, now links up with international team-mates Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon at Elland Road.

The 29-year-old becomes Leeds’ first signing of the summer. They are also in ongoing pursuits for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles and Julian Brandt, the midfielder who left Borussia Dortmund this summer.
