Jack Draper has withdrawn from the DC Open with a left arm injury.
The former world No 4 has endured a injury-strewn 2026 which saw him miss all three Grand Slam tournaments, with the withdrawal coming just a day after Draper claiming that he feels “really physically good”.
The Brit, who is coached by Sir Andy Murray, has dropped to world No 147 on the ATP Tour rankings and that will likely mean he will need to qualify if he is to play at this September’s US Open, having missed out on the main draw for the event.
Jack Draper opens up about the mental and physical challenges of his recent injury, missing out on Wimbledon, and why he feels he’s finally back in a positive place ahead of his return to the court.
Jack Draper reflects on his battles with injury after returning to action and speaks of the influence that Andy Murray has had on a difficult period in his career.
“I’ve had an incredibly challenging 12 months, a lot of adversity, a lot of problem solving, a lot of pain, and trying to understand that and come through it,” Draper said in a press conference on Sunday.
“I’ve never had a long-term injury before so I feel much better than I ever have in the last year. I feel physically really good.”
Jack Draper could miss his fourth Grand Slam of 2026
Draper first stepped away from the tour a year ago with the arm problem and has managed only a handful of tournaments since, with knee and shoulder issues also interrupting his comeback.
Having missed the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon, Draper’s chances at participating in the last major tournament of 2026 – the US Open – are now also in doubt.
